As a Company, Equillibrium practices the 7th Generation Rule by using it as a guide in making business related decisions. The 7th Generation Rule especially applies to decisions in our supply chain and design development approach. Through implementing a sustainable design philosophy, we are not only able to minimize our waste but divert another business’ waste as well. This is called up-cycling, and is the only way Equillibrium is able to use conventional textiles sustainably.
Many of Equillibrium’s Business to Business (B2B) vendor relations are fostered by attracting kindred spirits, showing mutual respect, and sharing core values with a common goal– to “waste NOT”. Some of the materials and styles being launched in our next accessory line couldn’t have been predicted. These “gifts” were given to Deb Henriksen with the responsibility to “… do something great with this, I know you will…”
We cannot think of a better way to show respect to the animal who sacrificed for us. For that we give thanks. Standards as to what kind of up-cycled animal products Equillibrium will use: NO virgin materials– diverted from trash only, NO domestic animals, NO threatened or endangered species will ever be used. Once material has been 100% used, it is gone. All pieces are limited edition, hand made, and one of a kind… we have no supply or intent for mass production of pieces made with these materials. (Ready to Wear lines are only made with sustainable materials for a larger scale model of production and are sustainably sourced based on Equillibrium’s results from an internal triple bottom line assessment.)
